Sweet & Sour Meatballs (Sauce)

This is one of my daughter’s favourites, and is always a hit. Delicious, sweet, tangy, and definitely satisfying.

Delicious, tangy, sweet sauce for meatballs.

Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2–3 tablespoons corn starch
- 1 cup brown sugar
- can be replaced with 3/4 cup white sugar + (recommended) 2-3 tbsp molasses
- 4tbsp soy sauce
Instructions
Mix cornstarch and a bit of water to make it a thin paste.
Add the rest of the wet ingredients, then add the sugar and mix thoroughly.
Heat on medium-high until it begins to thicken.
Turn down to low and add meatballs.
Serve over rice.
Notes
You can use pretty much any meatballs with this recipe. I’ve used homemade meatballs, Costco meatballs, Walmart meatballs… it’s all about what you prefer. Flavour-wise, if you simmer them for long enough the flavours all mix and mingle beautifully. I usually prep the sauce and then simmer the meatballs in it for an hour while I prepare the rice.
